Easy Spirit Heel Riser - Comfortable Women's Sandal...

Are you addicted to your Fit-Flop's but find that you need more support?

A wonderful alternative is...

The Easy Spirit Heel Riser Sandal.

At $24.97 at Footsmart,
this is an excellent choice for a casual sandal that is similar to the Fit-Flop but offers more support and comfort. If you prefer to try on the sandal, J.C. Penny's usually carries the Heel Riser.
This sandal has a thick, rigid sole that is very protective of the foot joints and offers superior biomechanical control because it has forefoot, midfoot and rearfoot strapping. Even though the sole is thick and rigid - it has a lot of cushion that allows for more shock absorption and comfort.

If you are currently wearing the Fit-Flop
(or any flip-flop!) and you are experiencing rearfoot pain such as Achilles Tendonitis or heel pain, I highly recommend that you "bump up" to a shoe with rearfoot control! With the Easy Spirit Heel Riser, you get the added benefit of the midfoot and rearfoot strapping, which offers more biomechanical control of the midfoot and rearfoot joints - resulting in less mechanical strain of your tendons, muscles and joints. Not to mention your knees, hips and lower back! More biomechanical control means less mechanical strain, less chance of injury and significantly more comfort.

Overall, I highly recommend the Easy Spirit Heel Riser for casual wear because it is protective of the foot, has good biomechanical control, wide, soft straps and it's lightweight.
Not to mention the price is fabulous!

Thank you so much Dr. McCarthy for this review! I will check this sandal out! Would you consider adding to your reviews whether or not the shoe is good for over-pronators/flat feet people?

thank you so much!

Dr. McCarthy, the Heel Riser is no longer being manufactured. The only sizes I could find online were a size 10 and it appeared to me to be a discontinued item. I emailed Easy Spirit and here's there response:

Doctor of Podiatry Discusses and Recommends Shoes. said...

Hi Candace,
Yes, it confused me too! I was told the same thing but if you google the easy spirit heel riser they are still out there and available. Are they knock-offs? I don't know but I stopped recommending them to patients about a year ago because they were "no longer being manufactured" and then about two months ago I googled them and a whole bunch of them came up. I'm not sure what's going on but I do know that they are still out there to purchase. I wish they would continue to manufacture them because they are really popular with patients and very comfortable!
Hope all is well,
Cathy

Hi Debbie,
I will make sure to write more recommendations for patients who over-pronate. In my previous reviews, I often write recommendations for patients with "hypermobility" which usually refers to patients who over-pronate. So, if you see any previous reviews and it's recommended for "hypermobility" - those shoes would also be appropriate for you. I will make sure to add "over-pronators" also. Thank you for pointing that out!
And thank you so much for reading!

I know this is late in the year to respond re. a sandal, but for those interested in this brand/style, JCPenny has size 8 and 10 in white on back order. Also, I found another Easyspirit "Anti-Gravity" sandal called the "Fabulous" that is available on Amazon, all sizes in beige. The Fabulous has exactly the same footbed as the Heelriser but a more sporty top/strapping. Includes adjustable heel strap.

Thanks again Dr. McCarthy for your recommendations!
