I'm so glad that your recoveri...Hi TraumaMomm!
I'm so glad that your recovering - that is a very nasty injury! One of my pet peeves is doctors telling patient's they "just have to live with it" - I absolutely disagree as there are MANY simple and non-surgical ways to promote healing, decrease pain and function and get you back to your normal life and exercise.
I would also recommend for you:
*If you have any pain with exercise or increased activities, consider wearing and ankle brace to decrease pain and chance of re-injury while you are still healing.
*Consider getting either custom-molded orthotics or a good over-the-counter insert to give you proper arch support to help decrease strain on your ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
*If you are having pain - stop and rest.
*Follow up with a Podiatrist who specializes in conservative treatments with a focus on biomechanics - there are many out there!
*If any doctor ever tells you to "just live with it" - get a second - even a third opinion!
Hope all is well and I sincerely thank you for your wonderful feedback...
Dr. Cathy McCarthyDoctor of Podiatry Discusses and Recommends Shoes.https://www.blogger.com/profile/16089487452078445266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-613146076654241194.post-76391712973252265022010-09-24T17:50:03.210-07:002010-09-24T17:50:03.210-07:00I know it says that these may not be best for folk...I know it says that these may not be best for folks with "ankle instability" but I disagree...

I shattered and dislocated my ankle last December, requiring two surgeries, metal plate and screws, and a heck of a lot of pain and constant swelling. The docs just told me to "live with it"... Heck no!

Anyway, I just got these shoes and I have to say-- they are AMAZING! I feel a definite difference in these vs regular Nike runners that I was wearing. They do not make me feel unstable at all. After miles of walking, I am sore from my low back to my feet-- but not in a bad way. Im sore from using muscles that I rarely use. And-- for once-- I have NO ankle pain/swelling!! I cant believe it! Soooo worth the money!!TraumaMommhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16941841686339442498noreply@blogger.com
