Comfortable Women's Wedge Sandal - Earthies Salerno

EARTHIES SALERNO

love it...

This is a gorgeous shoe!

I love the Earthie shoe line -
they are pretty and, in a world full of poorly constructed shoes, Earthies has consistently offered exceptional quality.
This shoe is wonderful because of the rigid protective sole that offers more protection and comfort for the foot structures.
What really wins me over is the contoured foot-bed with soft material and excellent arch support.
The strapping provides forefoot, midfoot and rearfoot control, which increases biomechanical control of the foot and allows for
more comfort as well as less chance of injury and mechanical strain.

This Shoe is Recommended For Patients with:
*Mild Bunions
*Mild Hammertoes
*Mild Tailor's Bunions
*Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
*Achilles Tendonitis

This Shoe is NOT Recommended For Patients with:
*Hallux Limitus/Hallux Rigidus (Limited or No Range of Motion across the 1st Toe Joint)
*Osteoarthritis or Degenerative Joint Disease of any of the Toe Joints (especially the 1st Toe Joint)
*Metatarsalgia
*Morton's Neuroma
*Capsulitis of the Toe Joints
*Ankle Instability/Hypermobility
*Diabetes
*Peripheral Neuropathy (Nerve Damage)
*Peripheral Arterial Disease (Poor Circulation)
*Charcot Foot
*History of Ulcerations
*Dropfoot

If you are one of my patients or in

Hello,
Your blog has been so helpful to both me and my mother these past couple of months. I love the look of this sandal but sadly, it isn't available on zappos. Would Naya Maize be a suitable alternative? I love the way it looks but am unsure if the support is comparable to the Earthies line or even Danskos.
Thank you!

Hi Bianca!

Thank you so much for the kind comments! I am so happy if my blog has been helpful!

The Naya Maize should be very comfortable and pretty equivalent to the Earthies. Assuming that you don't have any forefoot issues such as Hallux Limitus (limited range of motion of the 1st toe joint) or any pain or osteoarthritis of the toe joints - it should be very comfortable.

Let me know how they work out...

I definitely love this wedge. The color and the design is just perfect for me. It is nice to know that this is comfortable on the soles! Great blog!

Your blog is so helpful; I've been recommending it to all my friends with foot issues! I am curious about Earthies Salerno, which you indicate is not good for those with metatarsalgia (my situation). Why? Are there any Earthies styles that you'd recommend?

Thank you Linda!

Any shoe with a thick rigid sole that you can't bend will be appropriate for anyone with metatarsalgia because what aggravates the metatarsal bones is the motion across those bones when you are walking in a thin flimsy shoe. More motion equals more pain!

The Earthies Salerno should be good for someone with mild metatarsalgia. Because it is a wedge heel, it will not be as comfortable for anyone with a more severe case - that person will need a shoe with a thick rigid sole that is more flat (like a Wolky "Tulip" or "Jewel").

If you have metatarsalgia - make sure that you are not walking barefoot or wearing flip-flops. Wear Croc Clogs (with the strap to the back) around the house as a house slipper. You should avoid all barefoot walking and any shoes with a flexible sole and you will get a HUGE improvement! If it is not improving - follow up with a Podiatrist for x-rays to make sure that you do not have a fracture.

Thank you so much for reading and referring readers!

Have a great day,

Once again - I forgot a question! Any of the Earthies that don't bend will be appropriate for people who suffer with metatarsalgia...

Thanks, that's very helpful. I have been x-rayed (no fracture)and have been wearing custom orthotics since October. Since the orthotics only fit my running shoes, that's what I wear all the time now. Consequently, at work I don't look (or feel) very professional. I'm trying to find a few pair of shoes for occasional wear when I need to look more polished. So glad I found your blog to help me!

Hello,
I wanted to let you know that I did order the Naya Maize and they feel wonderful! I'm new to comfort shoes and am happy that I was able to find something that felt amazing but still look fashionable.
Thank you again for your advice.

I've slowly started to replace my "bad" shoes with ones that are good for my feet. Would you happen to know of a shoe that has the look of a flat without being...well...so flat? Something that can be worn casually or dressed up and still looks fashionable.
My feet and I thank you so much! Your blog really has been a huge help!

Hi Bianca,
I'm so glad your feet are feeling better! My go-to shoe for getting a little height but still being comfortable are the Dansko sandals with rearfoot control.
If you're talking about a sandal or dress shoe, you need to focus on wedge shoes -- for example: a shoe with a 3 inch heel height in the back and a 2 and 1/2 inch wedge height in the front so that you are getting your height but with only a half an inch of actual heel height.Make sure your have good strapping (especially the rearfoot!)
They can be hard to find but they are out there!
Have a great day!

Hi!

Thank you for your blog, I am so glad I found you!

I have very high arches and I must wear insert in all my shoes even house slippers. Would the earthies line be good for my high arch, or do you have any stylish dress shoe recommendations for pes cavus feet.

Thank you
Deanna

Hi Deanna L,
Thank you for reading! High arch feet are always more difficult to fit than flat feet. I would recommend trying the Earthies, Wolkys, and Naots. Did you check out my 'Top 20 dress shoe' and 'Top 20 sandals' lists?
Good luck and let me know how it works out...
